Oh boy oh boy oh boy, five years already. This is something. This is my third anniversary I get to celebrate with all of you and every year it seems to get better. You guys get better, everything is better than the year before. As the years have gone by you five incredible men have grown in every way possible. I mean look at Taemin for example, going from the small skinny shy boy who never got any lines to the strong confident man who steals the show. It’s just amazing to watch how much you all have changed right before my eyes. It’s even more special because as you guys changed I have and I feel as though we are going through this journey of life together. And honestly there’s no one else I would want to take this journey with.
The five of you mean so much to me, so very much. More than I could possibly put into words. You were the very first kpop group I came to love so much that I actually considered myself a fan. I was a Shawol before anything else and I’ll stay one even after I move on from other groups. Because SHINee is more than five beautiful boys singing and dancing to me. This is more than the funny fandom jokes, the otp moments, the perfect live performances, the scandals, the dumb tweets, the music videos, everything. This is about the love, the friendship, the bond, the appreciation, the gratitude, the feelings shared between SHINee and Shawols. This is not only five years of SHINee as a group, but five years of us fans being with you and continuing to be with for the next five and more after that.
I’m so proud to call myself a Shawol and I will forever as long as you guys are always yourselves and by that I mean the wonderful men you all are, learning and changing with each new experience in this world. Challenging yourselves with every comeback, every album, every single, performance, to be better than you were last time. Always being silly, goofy, and EMBARRASSING as a group of brothers. Taking all the fame, the money, the gifts, the love with extreme gratitude and thankfulness. You guys have said SHINee means for you to receive light from everyone else, but I can’t help but think the opposite. With SHINee I think the whole world shines brighter and is a little happier.
I love you Lee Jinki, Kim Jonghyun, Kim Kibum, Choi Minho, and Lee Taemin. I love you as individuals and as SHINee. I hope this anniversary is a good one and you spend the day well. I hope you’re looking at each other with wonder in your eyes almost not believing you actually made it this far, but you did so be proud of yourselves. You deserve it.
